I found a turkey nest yesterday evening on the edge of my property. It has 11 eggs in it. Today I set up my Cudde Back digital trail camera over looking the nest. Hopefully the camera does not spook her away. I will check the nest daily to make sure she has not abandoned it. I can get close enough to where I can see the nest without spooking the hen.

With the camera being on the nest, I will be able to see how many times she leaves the nest per day, how long she is gone when she leaves, and when she returns. I will also be able to tell if anything(turkey or whatever) visits.

This should be an interesting study.

Who knows how many days it takes for a turkey egg to hatch?

How about sharing some pics from the camera? That would be neat to see updates.

28 days.

The ole lady incubates ducks. They 28 days too.

She has 13 pheasant eggs in there this time too!!! 23-28 days for these!

I have enabled the video mode on my camera so it takes a 10 sec video also.

The turkey is now gone :( All I found was broken shells. I had not checked the camera since the 11th. I checked it today to see what was on it. The last photos I got were from the 13th.

Either the eggs hatched, and they moved on, or something got them.

There's a good chance that the eggs hatch. The incubation time for turkeys is right around a month. I have had a few friends telling me that they have been seen hens and poults running around in the woods while out mushroom hunting.

I am thinking they hatched out. The egg shells are not scatterd all over the place like something got them.
